Course Overview:
Tactical Action Group (TAG) offers a comprehensive five-day course designed to fully integrate K9 teams into tactical and specialty units. This program equips handlers, K9s, and the entire tactical unit with the skills necessary to operate effectively in high-risk environments while maintaining safety, control, and operational efficiency.

Instructed by experienced K9 handlers with real-world mission experience and activations, the course emphasizes practical, scenario-based training and covers every aspect of tactical K9 deployment, including socialization, tactical obedience, and search techniques. Participants learn advanced team movements, tactical tracking, arrest and leash techniques, and safe firearms handling in proximity to K9 partners.

Legal and operational standards are reinforced through instruction on case law, training standards, and operational best practices. Additional modules address environmental distractions, technology integration, and the effective use of K9s in complex operational settings.

• Apply Care Under Fire, Tactical Field Care, and Tactical Evacuation Care principles.

• Tactical Movement and Positioning

• Triage / Common Injuries / Wounds

• Manage airway compromise and respiratory injuries in challenging conditions.

• Recognize and treat shock, hypothermia, and other preventable causes of death.

• Perform patient packaging and rapid casualty evacuation.

• Operate effectively as part of a tactical team while providing medical support.

• Communicate and coordinate with command, EMS, and other response elements.

Training Methodology:

• Classroom modules on tactical medicine principles, protocols, and equipment.

• Stress inoculation drills to build decision-making and performance under pressure.

Certification:

Participants receive a Tactical Medicine Certificate of Completion

Prerequisites:

• Basic medical training (First Aid, EMT, or equivalent) recommended.

• Law enforcement, or military background preferred but not mandatory for certain versions of the course.
